The Appelget Family - Caixa Postal 651 Fortaleza, CE 60.001-970 Brazil - JAN, 2003

Dear friends,

It is good to start a new year. Recently, our second son, Donovan Tyler Appelget, was born on December 1. His birth went really well, and we were really glad that the labor was fast. This time I had the opportunity to be present during all of it. The hospital facilities also were great because this time around we had private insurance. Enid had a totally natural birth for the second time. God really blessed us with everything.

Talking about School of the Bible, one of the goals with the school here in Fortaleza is to influence and disciple the church. From September up through November, Joseph (my co-worker on this project) and I have taught classes in a church. The School was called School of Leadership, and the purpose was to help disciple members in this particular church. We consistently taught every Wednesday and Saturday nights with material based in School of the Bible. I would like to share some of the testimonies from the student who attended this course:

Question (to the students): Did this seminar satisfy your needs as a Christian? Why?

"Yes. Each class taught me my needs because... it seemed like everything that happened during the day was talked about in the seminar at night."
-Celina-

"Yes, because I learned more on how to deal with people, even to forgive."
-Antonia-

"Yes. I didn't learn everything, but enough to live the correct way."
-Fransica-

Question: Which teaching in this seminar has been the most helpful to you? Why? And how has it made a difference in your life?

"All of them. But those ones that talk about the law of God. And this last teaching (Self Control) helped me a lot because I didn't pay much attention to the commandments, and after that teaching I could remember more and guard (myself) more." "Putting the word of God in practice or fulfilling the will of God. If I do it, then I am going to make Jesus happy, and I also will be happy."
-Gabriela-

"The Marks of a Christian that was given of the book of 1 John. " "Never forgetting of how should I be as a Christian."
-Celina-

"The teaching on Sin, because it helped me understand that sin starts in the heart, and with this I am being more vigilant in my heart because the heart is deceitful." "Vigilance, (because) I am not allowing the sinful lies that want to enter and I take control of my heart."
-Yslane-

"About Sin, because I lived much in it and thank God, I am free." "My life is different since the day that I accepted Jesus, and with the teachings of the Bible School, it became much better"
-Joaquim-

As you can see from the testimonies, the school influenced many of the students, and they were really satisfied with the course. The best thing is to see the simple gospel truths transform the minds and hearts of people seeking God and thirsting for discipleship. Sometimes it is amazing to see the excitement about truths that we take for granted. I really enjoyed teaching in the classes. My Portuguese improved because of it, I had a lot of practice. Now I feel more comfortable to teach in Portuguese. And with somewhat more time, I should be able to do a lot better.

The translation project is continuing. It is a big project and we are in the process of finishing the translation of the apologetical book we will use in School of the Bible. The finalizing of the material is taking a lot of personal effort as we read through it to see if the translators are translating things correctly. If you haven't given to the translation project, please donate at least for one page, which is 15 dollars. Information about our progress and giving is at www.disciplenations.com\translation. We still need a lot more donations for the project.

Thanks for your prayers and support that you are providing for the ministry to the nation of Brazil. I hope that these testimonies are an encouragement to you because you are making an impact!

God Bless!

Paul & Enid Appelget
